I see a lot of pictures out there making wind turbines look green and making solar panels look green, but it is hard to find a picture that makes nuclear power look environmentally friendly. Thus, I took the liberty to play around in Photoshop (GIMP actually) and work on a new image. I think this is important as I am trying to re-frame the image of nuclear power. How does this image make you guys view nuclear power?

While the picture is pretty cool, I'm not sure it's conveying the right image. It looks like it's trying to hard to be "green" for the sake of being green.
Just my opinion, but I think connecting nuclear too much to the environmentalist movement makes people just think of the environmental harm nuclear power is notorious for (for some reason...).
Nuclear needs a new image, yes, and perhaps a more environment friendly one, but I don't think the same types of images will work.
I'm kinda thinking an effective image will be a real image nearby a nuclear power plant. For example, I think people would definitely respond to seeing a herd of deer walking near a reactor, or perhaps flowers growing inside a nuclear facility.
GIMP rocks though, and I definitely like the picture. Good post!
Interesting idea for creating a new nuclear image but I agree with Dan this seems to force the color green a little too much and for some reason I keep thinking it might be an image after a nuclear winter when all life but grass (and apparently butterflies) are gone.... The other planet object in the background looks really cool but it makes it extraterrestrial therefore not the same as out nuclear plants. The image as an image is cool but maybe something a little more subtle would suit the general public more...
I see your guys' points that the image is quite green, but forcing the issue is kind of what I was going for. I was also looking for the bit of "extraterrestrial" effect as I think nuclear power will help push us into a different kind of world. The image is a bit different, but I was trying to get at a new age kind of green world of the future. It seems a bit blunt, but I kind of wanted the image to hit people over the head and maybe spark a new kind of image in the readers head.
Love that you tried this, and also agree with the commenters. Maybe taking the jobs angle would work? After all, studies have shown that people who live safely near plants and whose communities benefit from the business brought in by plants (at restaurants, cafes, etc) tend to be most supportive of nuclear power.
